To the Gardener | #AtoZBloggingChallenge 2023

This post is part of the #AtoZ April Blogging Challenge. It’s my second time and this year I’m going with micro-poetry—it’s a form that I’m going to be exploring through April and hopefully, beyond. My focus here is to play upon the myriad moods and emotions of life through these varying short forms.

Today’s post stands for the letter ‘G’ and is titled:

To the Gardener

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am late in publishing this post that was meant for last Saturday. But, I’m happy that I didn’t quite give up on the challenge, so here I am, three days late, but still around. 🙂

Truth be told, it’s been a tough juggle—what with the everyday chores, work and family commitments, alongside the #AtoZ, and I’ve come very close to quitting but so thankful I didn’t. If you’re in my shoes, you’ll be able to guess that’s quite a pressure especially since poetry is still something that requires a great deal of time and effort for me AND of course, publishing daily, without prior preparation whilst being in a flow state is definitely NOT quite my cup of tea! But, I’m here and trying my BEST! Not sure how long I can sustain, but will see how I fare! Your presence and your kind words means a big deal to me so please drop by as and when time permits and do please share your link too, so I’ll visit you back.

Bye for now. Here’s wishing you a great week ahead. Love and gratitude to each one of you who’s been stopping by the blog and leaving your thoughtful and encouraging words!

  1. Being content with your own self… how amazing… speaks of so much of self acceptance and inner peace!! This is so beautiful and profound, Esha!

  2. When you bloom on the side, you can be deemed as an ‘extra’. The fact that you hold yourself as ordinary makes you a sum of extra and ordinary 🙂

  3. Love the comparison and reasoning – its beautiful. I’d rather be a rain lily than a rose. I am glad to see you at this Esha even though I am no expert on poetry. It is indeed very hard to do everything and AtoZ, esp without prior prep. I did about 40% of my posts beforehand and am struggling now 🙁

  4. Oh my, Esha! Now that was poignant. It tugged at my heartstrings.
I am so happy to see you here. No problem if you published your poetry later. You did it despite everything that stands in your way. Just goes to show how tough you are, even if you think otherwise.

  5. It shouldn’t be so stressful. I wonder if this poem isn’t a metaphor for that, in a way. Modern roses are so very cultivated. But we humans are, by nature, wild things. Some delicate, unassuming – but not as fragile as we may look, and worth discovering in the shade of roses.
