The sky was nothing but a spectacle of contrasts and crescendos as our seaplane landed on the water. A group of men from the resort stood on either side playing the drums as a mark of hospitality—a traditional welcome.
An ambassador from the resort greeted us and offered to escort us towards the reception—a somewhat longish walk towards the other end.
After walking a considerable distance of walking, we paused and looked behind and saw this breathtaking view that we couldn’t take our eyes off!
The sun had set a couple of minutes before, but the sky was still as fiery and dramatic as ever! The colours were a riot and the air crackled with anticipation, charged with the energy of the most unusual celestial performance that we could ever have anticipated.
The sea appeared to hold its breath while nature prepared to unleash the drama before us. It was like a game of fire and gold, where the elements were colliding in a breathtaking ballet, leaving us awestruck and bewitched by turns.
It was truly an evening like no other! This image remains one of my all-time favourite shots from that evening!
