This one is from our trip to the Jvari monastery in the Mtskheta region of Georgia.
As we climbed down the slopes after a tour of the monastery, we found ourselves surrounded by gentle rolling green vistas all around. The light of the setting sun was beautiful and my eyes lit up on catching a glimpse of this gorgeous tree against a pristine blue sky with white clouds that looked straight out of a picture postcard.
I flipped out my phone and an unspeakable rush of joy enveloped me as I captured the sight!
Days later, when I was back home and viewing my gallery, this image stood out. I kept going back to this day again and again.
On a busy day, with tourists thronging the area and a wedding entourage that was making its way out, getting to capture this solitary tree against the blue sky was quite a challenge. But, so glad that I persisted and did grab quite a few good shots.

Yes, they did look absolutely stunning and had a lovely sheen coming from the reflections of the sunlight. Not sure what they’re called but the valleys were full of these – bunches of violet flowers everywhere.

Esha, that one lonely tree with blue sky as background makes my heart feel joyful. Thank you for that experience. I used to go take pictures of a solitary tree on a farm on the way to do grocery shopping. One day the farmer cut it down. I still look for that tree which is no longer there but in my heart it still is.
Thank you so much for sharing such a memory so close to your heart, Jim! I can only imagine how you felt when it was gone. I guess some of us have these little nameless moments that we hold very closely within us. Last year, when I used to go to my Accupuncturist, I’d see this beautiful old tree next door adjacent to the clinic and while on my way out, would watch it lovingly. I had even taken a few pictures of it. About three weeks back, when I resumed my sessions with the Accupuncturist again, I was shocked to see it gone. Just like that, it was gone. Felt very sad!! I can totally relate to how you still feel about it.
