The Promise of a New Day

I love it that this morning’s sunrise does not define itself by last night’s sunset.

—Steve Maraboli

Sharing a leaf from my SouthAfrica travel diaries—that of dawn breaking in the wee hours at Arniston, a small fishing village in the Western Cape’s Overberg region. Stunningly beautiful village, with magical Iime-washed, thatched houses, perfectly preserved in time—one that leaves an impression in your memory and haunts you forever. For the records, a sunrise or a sunset here is a thousand shades of pink and sparkling greyish silver. And the sky here shows you, bleak though it may be at times, life sure brings us endless possibilities every day. So, no matter what we intend to do, this week, this month or this year, the best time to start is TODAY. It’s got to be NOW.

This week, I’m beginning a new weekly routine to purge off toxins from the mind and body. The idea is to refuel and re-energise. While I’ve been following similar routines in the past as well, this time I’m more focused on the means to nurture myself, more holistically. A little self-care was long overdue and I’m glad I’m not procrastinating anymore. Please wish me luck, dear friends.

On that note, here’s wishing you a happy #WordlessWednesday and an exciting week ahead! 🙂

  1. That quote says it all, Esha! Last sunset, last night, last week, last month – nothing has to define your today or tomorrow.
Take care, Esha. All of us need self-care and any day you make yourself a priority is a good day. 🙂

  2. The last day’s sunset does not affect the next day’s sunrise – love the quote.
You know I have cried and complained a lot in the last 2 years after moving to UK. It has taken me a long time to make peace with my circumstances. Despite all my complaints, one thing I considered as a blessing during this time was getting an east facing window and a chance to watch sunrises, whenever the weather permits. Sunrises bring with them hopes and promises. I loved the sunrise in your photo
All the best to you, Esha, for your new weekly routine. Now no more ultra late nights, okay 🙂 🙂

  3. All the very best Esha. Hope the self care regime makes your soul bloom with joy.

The quote is superb. It has such a positive and hopeful note to it.

Lovely photo and I heard Cape Town is charming and a must visit.

  4. Beautiful picture!
Good luck on your new routine Esha. Self care is of utmost importance..hope you get the results you are looking for 🙂

  5. What a mind blowing post, Esha.

I love your golden words peppered with optimism.
And I can’t tell you how happy I am to know you’ve started a new self care ritual. This is just the tip of the iceberg and the world is your oyster. Going forth you will sparkle and shine and flourish like never before.

Be the change, my friend. Stay well, stay wonderful.
    Love you much. <3

  6. An exceptional photo of the dawn. Congratulations! I imagine what peace there can be at that moment in the small African town.

    Have a great day, Esha!
