The Morning Walk

Today, when I was out for my early morning walk, I noticed an old man sitting on the park bench, sobbing his eyes out. He kept looking at every face and tried hard to recognise them.

A fellow jogger promptly pointed out how his son has been bringing him to the park every day for the past month. He has amnesia and has forgotten everything – some days he does not even recognise his son and lets it all drown in his tears!

As I walked past him, those eyes kept haunting me.

From the distance, I noticed the old man held out his frail hands to a young man. The look in his eyes said he had found something to cling onto.

Finally, he could focus on what he had, not on what he had lost. And that had made all the difference!

Happy to link this post to the #100WordsonSaturday on Write Tribe which is about writing a 100 words in the form of a story, a poem or a piece of non-fiction.
This week’s prompt was to continue a story, based on the following prompt:

    1. Alok, yes, wish it were so! A very close family friend is going through this right now…and I can see how painful it is for everyone 🙁

    1. Yes, Corinne, one of the bitter realities of life, unfortunately! But, we can each make a difference by making room for them in our lives!
