Singapore Skyscapes

I love holidays. So does my small family of three. This is something we live for. Every couple of months we take a break. There is nothing quite as energizing as a holiday. Our recent family trip to Singapore did just that.

You are not going to believe this but, I’ve always had this sterile image of Singapore all these years which, thankfully, got shattered after my first-hand encounter of the city last month. I was actually quite surprised to find that it has been slowly emerging as an eco-friendly green city, with the concrete jungles that once dominated Singapore’s skyline giving way to green skyscrapers, which look more like living ecosystems than business hubs.

In fact, besides the usual attractions, such as the museums, the art galleries, the shopping malls (Orchard, namely!) and bustling markets, where you could go crazy indulging in retail therapy of every kind, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Singapore offered plenty of walking trails, treetop jungle bridges, wildlife galore and the city’s green jewel, the Unesco World Heritage–listed Singapore Botanic Gardens, and some of the most amazing views from what is said to be the World’s largest ferris wheels – the Singapore Flyer, to name a few attractions in the city. Whizzing around Singapore was easy, thanks to an efficient and widespread public transport system, and the sparkling MRT that one got used to, in no time! Food was almost guaranteed to be scrumptious, whether one went for the humble hawker fare or Michelin-starred fine dining, as every food-enamoured Singaporean will vouch for, and every tourist will agree!

The weather was one of the best that one could hope for, despite whatever people say about the heat and humidity of Singapore. We did manage to see quite a few places of tourist interest but what I loved the most were some of the stunning sky views of this amazing city. Sharing a few selected shots from my collection for Skywatch today.

I hope my post inspires you to leave everything else and head out to this beautiful country, if you still haven’t been. After all, there’s no better magic than the one that comes to you first hand! And, we’re right in time for the holiday season. So, grab the tickets, pack your bags and leave!

  1. Whoa these are stunning Esha!! And I was happy to hear about the nature being given a preference in the smart urban city that Singapore is. It helps that its got a great tropical climate for plants to grow really fast and lush!!!

    1. Thank you so much, Shalini. It is so beautiful for a short vacation any time of the year…never fails to appeal! Hot and humid certainly but not as much as we get in Indian cities. Way too many good things about the country that one loves, so I’m happy to recommend Singapore to everyone. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Tina. No, don’t say that…It is waiting for you, trust me. I think I too waited a very long time before setting foot there. As they say, “der aaye durust aye…”It will happen for sure, dear! 🙂
