Friday Fictioneers is a weekly challenge set by Rochelle Wisoff Fields to write a 100-word-story in response to a photo prompt.

With trepidation in her heart, she walked up the slope and reached the clearing. The giant piece of rock with holes in it suddenly showed up. She stopped right there.

He came, as promised. He had to do it. It would be now or never!

They looked at each other and smiled. Unable to hold her excitement, she drew closer. He pulled out a box, and held out a ring before her. Her heart beat faster. This was the moment.

“What do you think of this?”

“Beautiful!”

“Think she’ll like it?”

She screamed inside. Silence hung suspended between them. Forever.

  1. Whoa!!!! This is dark stuff but done so well!! I found the image very sinister somehow and for me the entire story has taken a horror-esque feel.
One q – do you post every fri or can do it a day later too for the FF?

    1. Thank you so much Shalz! Glad you’re keen on participating. You can still link up. The linky is open through the week. Would love to see you join in with your story. 🙂
