Give Me Five

I am participating in the #BarAThonEdition3 which involves alternate days of blogging from July 2nd, 2018 to July 15th, 2018, based on a theme and a prompt for the day.

First day,

New school

He cried,

She smiled.

Her little hands

Said— Give me Five!

Years later—

They met again.

Greying temples,

balding pate.

On Reunion Day,

the gang unites.

Sweet memories—

Bring such delight.

Once again,

For ol’ times sake,

The eyes gone moist

Smile again.

Raising their eyes,

They nod and smile

The wrinkled hands say—

“Give me Five!”

  2. Aww, this one made me smile, Esha. I hope that years down the lane I get to share such moments with my old friends, how good would that be! Lovely poem. 🙂

  3. You have time travelled with emotions and in such beautiful word play. Loved the capture Esha- made me nostalgic when me and my friends would use this slang so often in school and feel so darned cool 😉

  4. School reunions are very emotional. I remember my own school reunion when I had mixed feelings for the people I loved to meet again while others whom I never wanted to see again. Some cat fights fade away with maturity but some leave a mark.

    1. It is, Sunita. I had the same thoughts about my school reunion three years back but sadly, due to a surgery, couldn’t make it. But one of my classmates had a similar moment. as described in the poem.

    1. Oh, thanks, Akshata. Really? You too? Will hope over and check out your post now. 🙂

  5. Such sweet, heartwarming, nostalgic creation, Esha. Nothing seems to have changed , except for physical appearances, when old friends meet!
