Looking Out, Looking Beyond | #WordlessWednesday

Seek out new windows, every now and then. There’s so much to look out for, in this world.

My post for #wordlesswednesday this week, is this gorgeous view from the windows of a 17th century heritage property in Fort Kochi, which was once a Portuguese mansion and the place where we stayed during our most recent visit to Kochi, to attend the sixth edition of the famous Kochi Muziris Biennale, considered to be India’s largest international contemporary art exhibition, running since December 12, 2025 until March 31, 2026.

This year’s theme is titled “For the Time Being” and it features 66+ artists/collectives from more than 25 countries. The venue is spread across 22 venues, and each of these focus on performances, installations and paintings, that are not just eye catching, but equally thought-provoking unique representations of the artists collectives.

In this image, I captured a window that looks out into a beautiful green space below. It’s here, in one corner of an old-fashioned verandah of the mansion, that the spouse and I found ourselves, enjoying a laid back afternoon, reading and resting our tired feet after we were done with all the walking around the different venues of the Biennale, spread across the length and breadth of the city.

Quite an experience, one would have to say. The biennale itself, and our stay at this beautiful heritage property!

  1. Looking out onto so much greenery is a luxury. I’d love to wake up to this view and the chirping of birds.

    1. I know what you mean, Tulika! It’s true esp in the cities…bird calls are an absolute rarity even in Bangalore, unless one lives on the outskirts!
