Be Your Own Sunshine | #WednesdayVerses

Be Your Own Sunshine

Crestfallen, battle-scarred, and weary,

Numbing the angst-ridden soul.

Seeking comfort in all the wrong places,

Caging joy in the minutes of gold.

After the drudgery of a long day,

when the aching soles seek rest,

Nothing can prove as healing,

as the dawn and the dusk at its best.

That peace of mind is precious,

Don’t look for it in places known.

Let the beauty of a flower so gracious

caress your jaded soul.

All that you ever wanted

All that you ever held dear,

All that your heart is seeking,

Lies within yourself, my dear.

So, keep your face to the Sun,

Let the shadows fall behind,

Chin up, stand tall, arise,

And be your own sunshine!

I simply loved this poem, especially these lines. Thanks for writing on this week’s prompt.

  2. I loved the beauty and the truth of these lines, Esha:
    All that you ever wanted

All that you ever held dear,

All that your heart is seeking,

    Lies within yourself, my dear.

What a fantastic reminder to us all. Thank you!

  3. Like I said on Reema’s post, I’m wearing bright yellow today and feel like sunshine already 😀

We need to be our own sunshine, alright! No body can take us down then.
