Gently Comes the Dawn #Skywatch

“With a bound, the sun of a molten fiery red came above the horizon, and immediately thousands of little birds sang out for joy, and a soft chorus of mysterious, glad murmurs came forth from the earth; the low whispering wind left its’ hiding-place among the clefts and hollows of the hills, and wandered among the rustling herbs and trees, waking the flower-buds to the life of another day.”
― Elizabeth Gaskell

The magic of sunrise couldn’t have been better felt. What a beautiful moment to witness it at the early hours of the day! Those minutes of transition from darkness to light happens so gradually and yet so magically that no matter how blase one might have been about it, one couldn’t have remained untouched.

Sharing today a set of shots taken just before and during sunrise this week. I’m usually up before the first streak of light returns to the horizon, and watching the spectacle of dawn breaking happens in between my morning chores. The pitch dark sky begins to gradually give way to a gentle glow just before the sun begins to appear on the Eastern edge. There is a certain brilliance in the sky with a layer of iridescent red that finally brings in the dawn.

Morning comes with the Sun and spreads a layer of warmth and light colouring the Earth. The fact that it has been happening this way for millions of years does not make the spectacle any less special.

  1. I, too, revel in the spectacle that takes place in the heavens above each morning. I wake up early and those moments, when the world is still asleep, but there’s some colourful activity happening up there are moments I wish would stay a little longer.
Beautifully captured, Esha. The first picture left me mesmerised!
WIll love to participate in Skywatch Friday someday! 🙂

    1. So happy to know that Shilpa! Such a magical hour of the day and yet, so many people just sleep through the early hours never catching the sunrise. Thanks for your appreciation. I find that some phone captures work better and some don’t! I’ll be too glad if you join in for #SkywatchFriday! The more, the merrier! Can’t wait to see your sky pics. 🙂

    1. Thanks dear Shalz! So good to hear that from you! Yes, a lot of people find that is true about Bangalore skies. But, today, we have a horribly grey and rainy day to contend with, if that’s any consolation. 🙂

  2. Esha, watching the sun come up is the best therapy one can have. Equivalent to the meditation. Nice set of pictures. Somehow I have been missing this therapy for a while now.

    1. You’re right, Arvind! This IS a therapy and one that you can never have enough of. Magical and mystical yet one so much a part of our everyday lives. I get into depression if I don’t get to see sunrise and sunset! I totally understand what you mean!!
