Daydreaming under a blanket of gold!
This is from our short weekend vacation in Phuket, a beautiful resort nestled within a verdant hillside, where we spent two beautiful days, in December, last year, relaxing by the beach.
I loved waking up to the scenic views and especially going for the long walks on the beach. While I’m not really a foodie, I must say I really enjoyed savouring Thai cuisine, that stood out with its distinct flavour and taste. What we felt very grateful for, was being able to avail the much-needed break from the routine, after a rather hectic spell of work! The anniversary was the perfect excuse anyway!
On our last evening in Phuket, we decided to spend the evening watching the sunset sky from the quiet of our balcony. It was wondrous, watching the changing hues of light loosen its hold on the day. The sun descended gradually, brushing the hills with molten gold before slipping gently behind them, as though reluctant to leave. The clouds caught fire for a fleeting moment- it was ochre, amber and then gold all at once! The view was magical and a fitting finale for our short holiday.
We lingered a little longer, holding the last of the light in our eyes, before stepping back to the room. A fleeting thought cropped up: What if we could extend our stay by another day?
Suitcases lay open, waiting to be packed. Somewhere, deep within me, I could feel the quiet weight of departure, as there was an early morning flight awaiting us at dawn.
This image from that evening remains suspended in memory even now, carrying with it the stillness and the quiet gratitude of watching a day end beautifully. It was, in every way, my kind of a perfect ending to a holiday!
