The Day is Ending – #WTFOW#5 – Day 1

(For Day One of the Festival of Words #5 hosted by Write Tribe between July 10 and July 16, 2016, I am writing a Haiku. As many of you already know, a Haiku (俳句 high-koo) is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count. They are mainly inspired by an element of nature, a moment of beauty, or another poignant experience and emphasize simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression.

Originally developed by Japanese poets, the form has now been adopted (and adapted) by virtually every modern language, including English. My Haiku is focussed on a brief moment – the hour of sunset!)

On the western sky,

a splash of gold spreads across,

gently stopping by.

(Have you ever tried your hand at Haiku before? How do you find the form? How about sharing something, in case you write them too :))
