My Word Of The Year For 2019—’Flow’ | #WOTY

New Year arrived well on time this year, but my ‘Word Of The Year’ has been eluding! It has been two weeks already, can’t believe it!

While my mind has pondered over a multitude of words, some fancy, and some completely banal, my conscience has been goading me to get into the right mode to ring in the new—which basically includes everything right from breaking old habits, getting into a fitness routine, dropping that baggage, losing excess weight, and changing set patterns of doing things—all this and more, so I may come up with a brand new version of myself in the New Year. Sounds so like last year. Or the years before that. And, I don’t want that.

Everyone knows this is the time to begin a new chapter in their lives. Many see it as a second chance to get it right although most people forget the list of things as easily and quickly even before the first few weeks of the year has got over. I didn’t make a list this year. Why? Because, last year with the sole exception of an amazing family holiday, I was left with too many unpleasant experiences, that threw me at my wits’ end, tried my patience over and over until I could take it no longer, tested my grit (as if it hasn’t already, over the years!)  and left me tired, sick (physically and mentally, both) burnt out and lost. In the end, I was glad 2018 was finally over, for good! I couldn’t have taken it any more.

So, this year, I decided to go with the ‘flow’ of things. Not that the year has started on a promising note. far from it. But, I’m ready to face it as it comes, and I am prepared this time. No specific plans though and no matter how many curve balls are thrown at me, I am readying myself to be able to handle it smart and to my satisfaction.

Let it come. Let it go. Let it flow.

My thoughts for 2019 are like this— to go with the ‘flow’, to accept what comes my way—to go easy with myself, to go easy on expectations that I set for myself or what others expect of me, to flow with ease through the rough patches and flow through experiences, both happy and bitter, without letting my inner calm be shaken or my emotions trampled upon, to flow in abundance, with inspiration and hope and remain steadfast in my goals of being the best version of myself!

Going with the flow is responding to cues from the universe. When you go with the flow, you’re surfing life force. It’s about wakeful trust and total collaboration with what’s showing up for you.”

That was my WOTY. What’s yours? What all have you planned for this year? How do you wish to take it forward?
