Together in Prayers | #WordlessWednesday

When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 61

We all know what the world is going through right now and how it is like to sit in darkness and wonder if the light will ever come through! But, prayers work magic. They give us the strength to go on in the darkest of times, to be there for ourselves and for others, to lift the veil of misery for those around us and share our love, kindness and compassion because that, my dear friends is what the world needs right now.

We have become one again—beyond border and faith, beyond religious beliefs and political affinities. It is one of the most baffling challenges that mankind has come to face in recent times, but this one brings along a few lessons for us all. This calamity is teaching us to slow down and reset our priorities anew. It is forcing us to focus inwards and introspect more, as we quarantine ourselves, and learn to live out our days in isolation, away from the mayhem and the madness and rush that we had got so used to. Life is looking more meaningful as we pause to question our actions, reflect on the purpose of our lives and begin to value the time we have with our loved ones—unsure, as we are, of what the future holds for us.

The most important lesson perhaps is the realisation of how utterly insignificant we humans are, in the grand scheme of things and how absolutely fragile our entire existence is!

As I resume blogging this week, after a brief hiatus, I realise how much the world has changed during this time. Three weeks back, we were all so anxious and worried because mom was detected with another malignant tumour that had to be operated upon, immediately. It had come as a big shock to us since she was beginning to feel better over the last few months and we had never suspected that a routine scan could lead to this. But, that’s the nature of the disease and therefore, within six months of a major surgery that took place in August last year, we had to prepare for another one in March. Worried and anxious, we braced up. Challenges followed. We did our bit, Thankfully, the doctors did a wonderful job this time around as well and we were back home, within a few days, thanks to the good wishes, prayers and healing vibes from our dear friends and family.

As mom heals, I continue to pray for her and also for the world, as we see the pandemic spread its’ tentacles wider all across the globe!. I do yoga and meditate and am usually the one who is always assuring everyone around me that this too shall pass, but somewhere, deep within, I feel the worries don’t leave me. I wake up in the middle of the night, feeling anxious and worried, breaking into a sweat. Stress brings on severe migraine for me every other day, and unless you have gone through a migraine attack first hand, it is impossible to gauge the pain and the discomfort that one goes through! This is something that I’ve been battling for close to 23 years. There are no cures for such a condition and now, with the stresses getting higher and more intense, the anxiety, panic and the resulting migraines have come to be my best friends for life. The fact that with each passing year, they are now only getting worse, doesn’t help.

The one thing that does make a difference is in praying. So, now I’ve started to pray, and I have this two-way connection with the Almighty, sharing my angst and my fears with Him. I cannot control the happenings of the world around me but I can control my response to them. And, thus I pray, hoping against hope, that we will make it through the darkness TOGETHER!

  1. I certainly believe in the power of prayers. Praying is the one thing that keeps me sane and calm in these dark times.

Stay strong, my friend. Know that I will keep you in my prayers.

    Sending you lots of hugs!!!

  2. Holding you in my prayers and also praying that the migraine vanishes totally and that you find immense peace in yourself to defeat any darkness that comes your way.

I know how the power of prayers works and I’m so grateful for it. Prayers, yoga, mediatin are my lifelines in this pandemic situation and are keeping me more than afloat but happy.

Praying for all the world to heal as one big family.

Stay safe, and wonderful my friend. God speed. <3

  3. Thank you for your honesty and transparency. I will keep you and yours in my prayers during these times of uncertainty. Psalm 94:19 is also a good one to meditate on. Sending you hugs…

    1. Thank you, Keith. You know, I realised that the option of being optimistic has always been in my hands, so I’ve decided to choose hope for now. Being realistic yet hopeful, I pray that the world recovers from this frightening state sooner than we can imagine! Holding everyone in my prayers!
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, today, Keith!

  4. This is that kind of situation that change everything inside us. It’s a lesson that we must understand, if we can.
And your words are so important:
“I cannot control the happenings of the world around me but I can control my response to them.”
This is quite the very best approach during these days!
Thank you, Esha for your thought!s I wish you all the best to you and your beloved ones!

  5. Prayer does give us hope! I can only imagine how worried you must be. Good to know that your mom is recovering now. Stay strong! I will keep you in my prayers.

    1. So glad to see you stop by, Reema! It is a terrible time for all of us and we’ve also had this heath scare for mom so, it seems like it’s been a long long time we’ve been straddling two different scary scenarios except that with this one, it seems there is no end in sight!
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers, Reema! Mom will be very happy to know that.
Take care and stay safe, dear.
