Musings on a Sunday Evening

Today, I joined my good friends Shilpa Halwe and Vinitha Dileep for a #SoulfulSunday writing session. Since this has been a time when many of us have not been writing or blogging regularly, we thought this practice of writing or writing’s sake might just be the thing we need, to get away from the ‘busy’-ness, and spend a few quiet minutes in meditative writing practice. This was followed by a timed 10-minute free-writing exercise, which we felt was also intended to help flex our writing muscles, in the process. This was the underlying concept that got us started.

So, what did we three do? We meditated and then we wrote—our spontaneous, free-flowing, no-editing-done and no-proof-read pieces of writing, that we shared with the world at the push of a button.

Suffice to say, it was a wonderfully therapeutic experience, way beyond what we could have imagined before we started on the pratice.

This journey into the inner realms of the mind truly spoke to the soul! I loved it. I’m really keen to see where this meditative writing practice takes us in the weeks to come. In case you’re interested in joining us, please do reach out. We’ll be more than happy to share the details. The more the merrier.

Meanwhile, here’s my journal entry, for this week. Handwritten, rough and unedited!

The highlight of this practice was that writing together strengthened the community feeling for us, —something that has been sorely missing in our blogging groups lately. Personally, it was also a revelation of the power of writing together—motivating and inspiring one another to lead ourselves into our writing grooves and produce a piece of work, even when we might not have been entirely sure what we would be writing. Totally worth the while, I’d say!

So, that’s it for now. If you’re joining us, stay tuned for details.

Until next week, goodbye!

    1. Thanks a lot, Shalini. It is a wonderful exercise in writing which you must try sometime. I guess it’s the feeling of calm and peace within, that allows for better reflection and provides just the right inspiration to write when we think we can’t. You must try it sometime, Shalini. We’re going to be there every Sunday at 7 pm, meditating and writing together. We’ll be happy to have you join us. 🙂
