Bloom With Grace

Wherever life plants you, bloom with grace.

—unknown

Someone once said that there’s something infinitely healing in the related refrains of nature—the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.

Every year, spring comes to remind us, that even after the harshest of winters, little seeds can sprout and grow into the most beautiful flowers.

And, sometimes, in the most unlikeliest of places, as you can see in the image above.

Recently, when I visited Kolkata with my mom, (we were staying at my parents’ home, and it was an emotional journey, with me attempting to bring a sense of closure and wrap up the establishment that was our family home for 27 long years), I used to frequently wake up to bird calls in the wee hours of the mornings. Interestingly, I noticed that this particular tree was a favourite with the feathered friends. A close observation revealed that the tree had actually shot up, next to a defunct water tank, on one corner of the terrace of this house next door, whose occupants had long moved away. Apparently, the promoters were ready to start work on pulling down the structure to make way for another high rise there.

My first thought was with this tree. I couldn’t help but marvel at how it arose in the face of such instability, blooming with so much grace and brimming with life even when it was only going to last another week or two.

Such is the irony of life, my friend! We never know what the next moment is going to bring and yet, we must carry on, making plans and looking forward to the next day.

Bloom we must and that’s the only way forward. Nobody says it’s easy, but we can still find new meaning in the midst of chaos and change or re-discover our purpose to thrive through the odds and maybe, even start all over again, because, that’s what Nature says.

  1. This is an inspiring post, so deep that i enjoyed reading every sentence in this post; thanks for being such an inspiration. I do agree we need to bloom where we are planted; with so much uncertainty around we need to keep going , even if the going gets tough,

  2. Thanks so much for dropping by, Esha. I could relate with your memory. I felt the same when I moved from my ancestral house where I lived for 25 years. Most of my dreams still happen there. <3

  3. This post is full of wisdom, Esha. What a lovely tree! Trees become part of our life without making any commotion, don’t they? ♥️

  4. There was a lot of emotion in selling my mother in law’s house, too, although she was still alive (and in declining health) at the time. My husband moved there when he was 10 and this house was part of my life for some 45 years. Memories are bittersweet. You are so right; none of us can see the future. I hope the tree continues to survive and give shelter to the birds. Alana ramblinwitham

  5. Lovely post. My parents and we as a family will also go through similar emotions this year. Thank you for sharing and joining us this edition Esha. See you around for today’s.

    1. Hugs, Parul I totally feel your situation, having gone through this. There is an inevitability with such situations and all we can do is accept them, albeit with a heavy heart. The memories of a family home are a treasure of a lifetime.
Hope all is well at your end!
Will surely join today’s #ttl bloghop.
      Take care ❤️
