The Choice – #FiveSentenceFiction

She had switched off the alarm, sitting at the edge of the bed, when a thought struck her. What if she could trade her life with someone else- a fresh clean slate to write a new story, perhaps?

But what about those battles, the scars, the endless angst, she carried within her body and soul for years, the fight to be herself?

Brushing aside the thought, once again she chose to be herself- no less significant, no less important and certainly not lost.

    1. Thanks for sharing your response, Vinitha. I am glad you think the same. Sometimes we want to be that other peron we admire so much forgetting that we too are worthy of being someone worth being.

    1. I can see your point, Doc! Well, lets just say this world has all kinds of people and we have no choice but to put up with them. I am glad your thoughts resonate with mine. I have often wondered what makes people so rigid – sometimes i feel they seem to get a kick out of being difficult for the sake of being so, without any justification. Don’t you think?

    1. Oh, thank you Raj. Yes, a lot of the time we tend to think our life experiences are not worth anything. It is the others who we must follow.

  1. I would never like to trade my life with someone else’s, despite all the hurdles I faced along the journey. It’s the wounds from these hurdles that taught me precious lessons and for that I am ever so grateful!

    1. Of course, our life, no matter how difficult, give us experiences that shape us and make us who we are! But some days, doubts creep up and hence the dilemma that perhaps being someone else might make things better. Gratitude is all I have for the School of Hard Knocks!

    1. Thank you Parul. Yes, undeniably, it is all those colours that make our experiences worth the while. But doubts still creep in at times. Such is life!
